What are the rules for using Events King?
For the most part, people are good. They post honest ads, use G-rated language, and try not to waste your time. But occasionally there are a few rotten apples who could spoil the barrel. We won’t let them. We are 100% dedicated to a site that’s safe, local, and free of spam. We wish we didn’t need pages of policies to show how serious we are about this, but hey – your family’s safety and enjoyment of Events King is worth it.

Here are some general rules to follow when posting an ad:

i. You are responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws relating to items or services that you list, buy or sell on Events King.
ii. Ads that contain any text that violates the spirit of Events King, or could disturb or offend our users, may be rejected.
iii. It is prohibited to post an item or service not located in the U.S.
iv. It is prohibited to post a duplicate or similar ad for the same item or service. Choose only one category and city that is most relevant for the ad.
v. It is prohibited to post more than 25 ads per day.
vi. It is prohibited to include keywords or descriptive terms in either the title or description text of the ad that are not directly relevant to the item or service being offered.
vii. It is prohibited to post pornography, nudity, or other related material that is obscene or adult in nature.
viii. It is prohibited to post ads relating to personals, dating, missed connections, or adult services.
ix. It is prohibited to infringe the rights of third parties. This includes, but is not limited to, infringing on intellectual property rights such as copyright and trademark (example: offering counterfeit items for sale).
x. It is prohibited to post ads that serve no other purpose than to send traffic to another web site. Ads must describe a specific item or service in order to be allowed on the site.
xi. Use of content and/or functionality of Events King to send unsolicited emails, or make unsolicited contact of any kind with its users is strictly prohibited.
xii. We reserve the right to recategorize any ads posted on Events King.
xiii. Rules may change periodically to reflect Events King’s ongoing commitment to providing the best user experience possible.
What is not allowed on Events King?
The list below details what can't be posted on Events King:
  • Alcoholic Beverages
  • Blood, Bodily Fluids and Body Parts
  • Burglary Tools
  • Counterfeit Products, replicas or knock-off brand name goods
  • Electronic Surveillance Equipment
  • Embargoed Goods
  • Endangered or protected species, or any part of any endangered or protected species
  • Escort services that offer or indicate sexual services
  • Fireworks, Destructive Devices and Explosives
  • Government and Transit Badges, Uniforms, IDs, Documents and Licenses
  • Hazardous Materials including but not limited to radioactive, toxic and explosive materials
  • Identity Documents, Personal Financial Records & Personal Information
  • Illegal Drugs, controlled substances, substances and items used to manufacture controlled substances and drugs, & drug paraphernalia
  • Illegal Services
  • Illegal telecommunication and electronics equipment such as access cards, password swiffers, radar scanners, traffic signal control devices or cable descrambler
  • Items issued to United States Armed Forces that have not been disposed of in accordance with Department of Defense demilitarization policies
  • Items which encourage or facilitate illegal activity
  • Lottery Tickets, Sweepstakes Entries and Slot Machines
  • Material that is obscene, pornographic, adult in nature, or harmful to minors
  • Material that infringes copyright, including but not limited to software or other digital goods which you are not authorized to sell
  • Nonprescription drugs drugs that make false or misleading treatment claims, or treatment claims that require FDA approval
  • Offensive Material
  • Pesticides or harzardous materials
  • Pictures or images that contain nudity
  • Plants and insects that are restricted or regulated
  • Prescription Drugs and Devices
  • Prostitution or ads that offer sex, sexual favors or sexual actions in exchange for anything
  • Recalled items
  • Stocks and Other Securities
  • Stolen Property
  • Tobacco Products
  • Used cosmetics
  • Used or rebuilt batteries or batteries containing mercury
  • Weapons and related items (including, but not limited to firearms, firearm parts and magazines, ammunition, BB and pellet guns, tear gas, tasers, stun guns, switchblade knives, and martial arts weapons)
Can I post my Ad on multiple Events King sites?
You should only post your Ad on the Events King site that's nearest to you for the product or service you're offering. If you post in multiple states, cities or sub-areas, your Ads will be removed.

People that are willing to travel will search other Events King sites to find your Ad.
How many Ads can I post on Events King?
You can post up to 25 unique Ads on Events King every day. Unique means that the Ads are substantially different from each other (i.e., different items, services). Please do not post the same Ad over and over again.
What type of jobs are not allowed on Events King?
The following types of Job ads are prohibited on the site:
  • Multi-level marketing or pyramid schemes
  • Business or job opportunities that require upfront or periodic payments
  • Business or job opportunities that pay only commissions, unless the ad makes it clear that the sole source of compensation would be commission and clearly describes the product or service that would be sold
  • Business or job opportunities that require recruitment of other members, distributors or agents
  • Ads that are not clear regarding what type of work would be required
  • Ads for employment that are stating a preference or requirement based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, age or disability
Can I post my Ad to multiple categories?
You should only post your Ad in the most relevant category. If you post the same Ad in more than one category, it will be removed from Events King.

Should you be unsure which category to use for your Ad, try searching and see where others have put similar Ads.
Can I link to my web site in my Ad?
You can include a web site address by including a URL in the description of an Ad if you would like to:
  • Link to additional product information
  • Link to a page with more pictures
Please note that such links will not be clickable. Links that lead to sites where transactions can occur are not allowed.

Note that your Ad must be useful and serve a purpose other than to direct more traffic to your web site. Your Ad must also comply with all other site policies.

What is not allowed in the For Sale category?
Items being professionally sold by retailers, dealers or other businesses are not allowed in the For Sale category. We may allow handcrafted items produced locally by the poster. The purpose for this is to create a unique home for our private sellers, and providing a separate forum for businesses to be able to reach potential clients.

If you are a business looking for clients, please use our Services category for Retail, Merchandise. This policy will go into effect on Monday, August 10th, 2009.
 
What is not allowed in the Pets category?
Events King does not condone the unethical treatment of animals. We will listen very closely to our community for any reports of unhealthy animals that were offered for sale or purchased. Accounts may be suspended if the complaint is deemed legitimate. Thereafter, if appropriate documentation (e.g., health inspection) is not provided within 3 weeks, Events King reserves the right to ban the account.

In accordance with many state laws, Events King prohibits the sale of puppies and kittens under 8 weeks old. Date of birth for these animals must be clearly stated in the ad.
What is required in the housing category?
Equal Housing Opportunity:

Events King supports Equal Housing Opportunity and we encourage users of our site to follow appropriate guidelines to comply with both Federal Housing Act, as well as any applicable state and local regulations. Federal Laws prohibit discrimination based on:

Handicap/Disability
Familial Status

Property Owner’s & Manager’s Responsibilities:

As a property owner or manager you have a responsibility and a requirement under the law not to discriminate in the rental of property on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin. Agents in a rental transaction are prohibited by law from discriminating on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin. They are prohibited from complying with a request from the property owner or manager to act in a discriminatory manner in the lease or rental. Moreover, a property owner or manager cannot establish discriminatory terms or conditions in the purchase or rental, deny that housing is available, or advertise that the property is available only to persons of a certain race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin.

Renter’s Rights:

AS someone seeking to rent an apartment, home or condo, you have the right to expect that housing will be available to you without discrimination or other limitations based on race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin. This includes the right to expect equal professional service, the opportunity to consider a broad range of housing choices, no discriminatory limitations on communities or locations of housing, no discrimination in the pricing or financing of housing, reasonable accommodations in rules, practices and procedures for persons with disabilities, and to be free from harassment or intimidation for exercising your fair housing rights.

The Fair Housing Act

The Fair Housing Act declares national policy of fair housing throughout the United States, making illegal any discrimination in the sale, lease or rental of housing, or making housing otherwise unavailable, because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as issued a memorandum to provide guidance on Advertisements and the Fair Housing Act.

State and Local Laws

State and local laws often provide broader coverage and prohibit discrimination based on additional classes such as age, marital status or sexual orientation not covered by federal law. Please inform yourself about the Fair Housing Laws applicable in your state. If you encounter an ad that is discriminatory and you believe that it violates Fair Housing Laws, please flag the ad as prohibited.
